Country Biscuits and Sausage Gravy

Country Biscuits and Sausage Gravy
 
 
Ingredients
Biscuits:
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1½ t. salt
  • 1 T. sugar
  • 1½ t. baking powder
  • 1 stick butter
  • ¾ c. buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ c. water
Gravy:
  • 1 lb ground pork sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 4 -5 TBS flour, all purpose
  • 3 Cup milk
Instructions
Biscuits:
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Combine flour, salt, sugar, baking powder and butter until crumbly.
  3. Mix in buttermilk, egg and just enough water to make a workable dough.
  4. Mix the dough until it is just barely combined (don't over mix).
  5. Roll the dough onto a floured cutting board about 1 inch thick.
  6. Cut with a 2 inch round cup.
  7. Place on a greased baking sheet with sides touching.
  8. Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown
Gravy
  1. In skillet cook & crumble the Sausage over med heat. Stirring Constantly until no longer pink. Remove sausage.
  2. Cook the saved sausage drippings over medium heat.
  3. Add your Flour, beat with fork until there is no flour showing.
  4. Add cold milk slowly, beat with fork til thickens, about 5-8 min.
  5. Add the sausage, Stir well.
  6. Pour over cooked biscuits and enjoy!
